Return of the King is the third and last movie of the trilogy. It is the ending of the great epic journey of Frodo, the fellowship, and the One Ring. By Return of the King, Frodo is already in Mordor with Sam and Gollum. The Ring is beginning to take over him. Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli are protecting Rohan from Mordor as well as the rest of Isengard's armies. Merry and Pippin have split in different journeys; they're in different places doing different things, yet their fate is tied together. In conclusion, Frodo reaches Mt. Doom and finally lets go of the Ring after Gollum pushes him off the cliff deep within Mt. Doom. Sam saves Frodo from falling. Afterwards, Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin finally get to go home-back to the Shire. Frodo leaves the Shire and his home after many years...he goes to the Undying lands along with Elrond, Galadriel, Bilbo, and many more. Overall, it was a GREAT movie. It flowed very nicely; the story was basically the same(although some of the parts-especially the end, were changed), the special features were excellent, and Elijah's acting showed talent beyond his years. He is truly an amazing actor.
